Mon Frère - (United States)

Mon Frère logo

The Mon Frère Winery originated from a collaboration between one of the most legendary winemakers in America, Tom Hinde and perhaps one of the most important wine-related families after the prohibition in twinties, the Taub family. It is not a unique vineyard or winery, but by utilizing vineyards in different locations in California regions and different clones of the same grape, they work optimally towards a complete version of what wine in California has to offer in a fairly responsible price range. . "Mon Frère" is an ode to those special and rare friends who feel like family and for whom you are happy to bring out your best bottle. The wines are incredibly versatile and a testable proof of what their grape can offer. The presentation honors in a pleasant way what friendship has to offer in all its forms ... In good and bad times!

An interesting nose of spicy citrus with peppery notes of white pepper. Even in the nose, its strong mineral character immediately stands out. Brilliant balance between ripe fruit and exciting energetic properties. This is spectacularly confirmed on the palate with perfectly integrated flavors of citrus, white pepper, jasmine, and North African spices, while riper notes of pineapple and a hint of papaya showcase the more exotic side of Veltliner. Explosive nose bursting with citrus, spicy green notes, and a hint of passion fruit. In the background, we discover green apple, cucumber, melon, more floral touches, and a fine hint of coriander. Its mineral and refreshing character activates the salivary glands, providing tension to the wine and offering balance to the complex array of flavors. This is not your ordinary classic Sauvignon Blanc from California, but it stands alongside the great Sauvignons from the Loire and Marlborough.
