'Weingut Heribert Boch'

In the 1980s, Michaël Boch stepped forward at a very young age to take over the small and charming family estate from his father, Heribert. When he was just 16, his father gave him his first vineyard, and at the age of 21 he became the youngest winemaker in the Mosel.

He has access to two of the most enviable vineyards in Trittenheim: the Altärchen vineyard, which forms the inner meander of the Mosel, and the renowned Apotheke vineyard, blessed with exceptional terroir. This southwest-facing, steep slope — with gradients of up to 70% — forms the outer bend of the Mosel and consists of the famous slate soils on which Riesling finds an ideal foundation, giving these wines exceptional tension and minerality. The medals, accolades, and awards at the Boch estate are almost too numerous to count, yet they have never made the modest Michaël lose his humility.

Meanwhile, his son Maximilian is already eager to contribute. He has completed internships at several of the most renowned wine estates in the Mosel and, just like his father, is ready at a remarkably young age to introduce new ideas and put his own insights into practice. The future is therefore assured — a reassuring thought for every wine lover who has ever had the privilege of discovering this gracious estate.

The climate

A cool, temperate climate with significant rainfall throughout the year, even during the driest months. Large temperature differences, especially at night, help develop lively acidity and refined aromas in the grapes.

The terroir

The vineyards of Weingut Boch are located on steep top sites such as Trittenheimer Apotheke and Altärchen, where limestone-rich slate soils and slopes of up to 70% require manual cultivation and produce refined, mineral-rich Rieslings.
