2022 Mon Frère STONE BLOSSEM - Edna Valley - Cold Climate California Sauvignon Blanc 0.75 Ltr. White
picture of

Explosive nose bursting with citrus, spicy green notes, and a hint of passion fruit. In the background, we discover green apple, cucumber, melon, more floral touches, and a fine hint of coriander. Its mineral and refreshing character activates the salivary glands, providing tension to the wine and offering balance to the complex array of flavors. This is not your ordinary classic Sauvignon Blanc from California, but it stands alongside the great Sauvignons from the Loire and Marlborough.

This completely atypical Sauvignon Blanc is one of the only Cool Climate SBs in California and pairs wonderfully with clean flavors from the sea like oysters, sushi, sashimi, and ceviche, but also complements dishes like eel in green sauce, salads, grilled chicken, and asparagus.

climate

The climate is the coolest in California. Moderate sunshine, cool maritime fog, and cooling winds from the ocean strongly influence the Mediterranean character, making Edna Valley a Cold Climate AVA uniquely suited for the production of high-quality white wines.

soil

With its location near the coast and surrounded by ancient volcanic mountains, Edna Valley boasts a highly privileged mineral-rich soil characterized by black humus, clay, oceanic sediments, and volcanic rocks.

vinification

The grapes come from 2 plots in the west of Edna Valley, right against the Ocean. They are manually harvested in the coolness of the night and early morning. Cold fermentation in stainless steel tanks follows, after which it rests for another thick half year before being bottled.
