Domaine George - Bourgogne (France)
Domaine George is located in Courgis, a small, picturesque village in the heart of the Chablis region. The estate’s history dates back to the 1940s. At that time, the grapes were sold to the local cooperative rather than vinified under the estate’s own name. In 1997, Michel George took the step to become an independent winegrower. Today, his sons David and Jonathan, who trained in winemaking in Beaune, continue the family tradition. The estate’s 17 hectares of vineyards are situated exclusively on steep, prime hillside sites. The vines grow on the renowned Kimmeridgian soils, composed of limestone, clay and marine fossils—remnants of the seabed that covered this area millions of years ago. The grapes for the estate’s Chablis come from two distinct vineyard sites, known as climats: “Talvat” and “Côte de Jouan”.
